The first Mardi Gras parade in South Baldwin County doesn’t roll until Feb. 28th, but Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are already in the carnival spirit.

Revelers will see new floats in some of the seven, scheduled parades, including a pirate-themed ship.

Bay Minette, Ala. – A pursuit by vehicle, on foot and ultimately with tracking dogs resulted in traffic accidents and eventual apprehension of the suspect yesterday in Baldwin County. According to Baldwin Sheriff’s reports, the incident began on Interstate 10 and ended in the adjacent woods, after spike strips were deployed to disable the suspect’s vehicle.

BAY MINETTE, AL – Melvin Dennis Hutcheson, convicted Monday in the death of bicyclist Michael Hoeft, was released today on $25,000 bond set by Judge Joseph Norton in a hearing Wednesday. He is awaiting a sentencing hearing in the case.
